AGI House India Fellowship is a merit-based membership program for AI founders, researchers, and builders who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their field. Admission requires a rigorous application evaluated by a Selection Committee of recognized national and international experts. Fellowship is free. There is no membership fee.
India's role in artificial intelligence is foundational, not peripheral. Researchers at IITs contributed early work in formal verification and constraint systems that underpins modern AI safety. Aadhaar's AI-powered biometric deduplication operates at 1.4 billion identities, making it the largest deployment of its kind in human history. AGI House India Fellowship exists to formally recognize this tradition and accelerate the next generation of outstanding Indian AI talent. Fellowship membership is the mechanism by which that recognition is documented, independently verified, and presented to the world.
All applicants are evaluated against the following seven criteria by the Selection Committee. Each criterion is designed to confirm that admission requires outstanding achievement in the field of technology, as assessed by recognized national and international experts. Applicants must demonstrate strength across a majority of criteria to be considered for fellowship.
Founded and led AI ventures with demonstrated market traction: verified revenue, active users, or institutional funding. We look for product-market fit and sustainable model development, not idea-stage companies. Evidence includes cap table records, funding announcements, and auditable revenue metrics.
Built and managed high-performing teams, attracting recognized technical talent. Assessed through team composition, calibre of co-founders and early hires, and the ability to retain key contributors under competitive pressure. We look for organizational cultures that produce compounding AI output.
Developed original AI/ML systems with real-world impact: published research with citations, shipped production AI systems used by real users, or open-source contributions with measurable adoption (GitHub stars, downstream forks, enterprise usage). Applying state-of-the-art methods to a new domain qualifies only when the application is non-trivial.
Demonstrated ability to identify AI market opportunities ahead of consensus. Evaluated through documented roadmap decisions, public writing or talks that anticipated industry movements, and evidence that the applicant understands where the AI stack is heading across infrastructure, models, and applications.
Consistent delivery of results under competitive pressure. Prior startup exits, product launches at scale, or institutional publications all qualify as evidence. We weight outcomes over effort: shipped systems, closed deals, papers accepted at peer-reviewed venues, and products with observable user retention.
Acknowledged by peers, institutions, or media for contributions to AI. This includes press coverage in major publications (TechCrunch, The Ken, Forbes, Economic Times Tech), awards from national or international AI organizations, selection for competitive programs (YC, Antler, IIT incubators), and speaking invitations at recognized venues (NeurIPS, ICLR, PyCon India, Google I/O).
Actively advancing the AI ecosystem through advisory roles at verified companies, open-source contributions that others depend on, published writing with demonstrated readership, or leading technical workshops and research reading groups. We distinguish sustained contributors from one-time participants.
Note on Evidence Standards: The Selection Committee applies the same evidentiary standard used in internationally recognized fellowship programs. Self-reported achievements are cross-referenced against publicly verifiable records: company registrations, patent filings, published research, funding announcements, and media coverage. Applications are declined when achievements cannot be independently corroborated.
Membership decisions are made exclusively by the AGI House India Selection Committee, a body of recognized national and international experts in AI, computer science, and technology investing. No application is approved without a majority vote of the Committee.
Each Selection Committee member was themselves evaluated and admitted to the AGI House network under the same standard they now apply to applicants. The committee's composition is itself evidence of the membership bar: these are practitioners who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their own right.

Fellowship membership requires active participation. Members are expected to engage with the community by attending events, contributing expertise to other fellows, or producing work that advances the field. Passive membership does not qualify for the fellowship designation. The Selection Committee reviews active membership status annually.
Members who become inactive for 12 consecutive months (without an approved leave) transition to Alumni status. Alumni retain their original membership letter as a permanent historical record of the achievement that earned admission. They are no longer listed as active fellows or included in official membership counts. Alumni may apply for reinstatement by demonstrating renewed engagement.
AGI House India fellowship is not open enrollment. Every application is reviewed by the Selection Committee. The process is designed to ensure that only candidates with documented outstanding achievement are admitted. There is no application fee.

The Selection Committee reviews submitted evidence across all seven criteria. Applications without documented outstanding achievement are declined at this stage. Self-reported claims are cross-referenced against publicly verifiable records: company registrations, patent filings, published research, funding announcements, and media coverage.
Shortlisted applicants are evaluated by at least two Committee members with relevant domain expertise. Each evaluator independently scores the application against the seven criteria, with written justification for each score.
The full Selection Committee convenes to discuss borderline cases and ratify decisions. Membership is granted only by majority vote of the Committee. Decisions are documented and retained as part of the applicant's permanent record.
Admitted fellows receive an official membership letter on AGI House India letterhead, signed by a Selection Committee member, specifying the exact criteria under which membership was granted. This letter serves as primary evidence for professional and immigration purposes.
AGI House India operates as a chapter of the global AGI House network, which originated in Silicon Valley and connects thousands of AI founders, researchers, and investors worldwide. AGI House has been recognized by Forbes, TechCrunch, and MIT Technology Review as one of the world's leading AI founder communities. Indian fellows gain access to the global network, including introductions to US-based investors and cross-border co-founder matching.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The Selection Committee meets monthly to evaluate new applications. Due to our under 1% acceptance rate, only shortlisted candidates are contacted for the expert evaluation stage.
